You’re always harder on yourself than you are on others. When it came time to look at the New York Islanders we weren’ that tough. Are the Islanders better than some of the teams already mentioned? They sure should be.

But should-a, would-a, could-a doesn’t belong in a power ranking. It’s just a fact that the Capitals, Penguins, Rangers, and yes, even the Devils are better than the islanders right now. Heck, were currently the worst team in the division on points.

The same issues are creeping into the Isles game that we as fans have seen for a while now. They just don’t seem to be able to compete for a full 60 minutes night-in-night-out. We saw it in the most recent game against the Penguins when after two periods the Isles ran out of gas and the Pens ran ‘em out of town 4-2.

Is it all doom and gloom? Heck no. Brock Nelson is our top scorer. Brock Nelson. That’s fantastic! It won’t last come the end of the season. But he’s engaged and producing. The same for Josh Bailey! He’s got five points to his name and is a +2! Our depth players are contributing while some of our bigger names have yet to find much success…Andrew Ladd.
