New York Islanders Stay In Bottom of Metro Power Rankings

Previous: 3 (-1)rd. New Jersey Devils. 4. 85. . 3-2-2
The New Jersey Devils are winning, and find themselves in the middle of the pack in the Metropolitan division. A position that wouldn’t have been possible if not for the Edmonton Oilers.
The Devils are winning for two big reasons: Taylor Hall and Cory Schneider.
Hall already has five goals to his name. If Edmonton didn’t need to ship out this dead weight player clouding up the Edmonton dressing room with his toxic fumes the Devils would probably be in a much worse scenario. Instead, the Devils decided to throw caution to the wind and take on this risky asset, giving up only Adam Larsson to do so.
As often as Hall is putting in, Cory Schneider is keeping them out at the other end. Posting a nice 2.00 GAA .936 SV% through the opening six games.
The Devils are hot…no, they aren’t that good, warm, yeah, the Devils are warm right now, sure, but they aren’t any better than the teams ahead of them in the power rankings just yet. They could eventually, maybe.
They have scoring depth, oddly enough, and they have an elite goaltender. What they don’t have is an effective blueline. Even with Hall and Schneider on their best, that blueline is going to be suspect through the season for the Devils.
