95. . 5-3-0. Previous: 2 (-1)nd. New York Rangers. 3

It’s awful to put the New York Rangers above our New York Islanders, but rationality prevails. The Rangers are just better than the Islanders. It’s that simple. At least for the moment at least.

Why are the Rangers so good so soon? They’re getting strong offensive contributions from the likes of Zibanejad (7pts), Brandon Pirri (6pts), and JT Miller (6pts). Even when Henrik Lundqvist gqives up two sloppy early goals against a conference rival.

That win against Boston after Hank let in two very soft early goals could have been season defining. Being two down when your franchise goaltender’s career is sliding down the cliff in front of your eyes could have ended poorly for New York.

If only it wasn’t so early in the season and that Boston wasn’t playing their fourth-string goaltender.

That win gave the Rangers three in a row and currently have then near the top of the division. So why only third? For all the goals the Rangers have scored, they let in a good number. We aren’t convinced they aren’t better than the Caps and Pens.
