New York Islanders Daily: Adam Pelech Impressed
The New York Islanders called up Adam Pelech to replace the injured Travis Hamonic. He was impressive in his first action of the year.
The New York Islanders won last night over the Vancouver Canucks by a score of 4-2. Due to the absence of Travis Hamonic, Adam Pelech was called up and played well last night.
“I thought he did a great job for us,” coach Jack Capuano said of Pelech, who was paired with Nick Leddy and played 17:08 in his first game of the season with the Isles. “The first couple shifts are always tough, especially as a defenseman. They’ve got guys coming with speed, a desperate team — like us.”
Adam Pelech spent some time up with the Islanders last year and played well in his nine game, as he had two assists. It makes me feel confident that the Islanders can get by without one of their best defenseman.

My question then becomes does this make one of the Islanders d-men expendable? Dennis Seidenberg has been a great pickup, he wouldn’t be an option to move.
Calvin de Haan on the other hand may become a movable piece. Pelech probably deserves regular time and when Ryan Pulock is healthy he should get some action as well. We’ll have to see what the Islanders do but they have depth at the position.
