New York Islanders Got a Scare With Possible Nelson Injury

Last night against the Vancouver Canucks the New York Islanders saw their second leading scorer head to the dressing room.
The New York Islanders are already besieged with injuries. First, it was Ryan Pulock who broke his foot as he stepped into the lineup to cover for an injured Nick Leddy. Then Travis Hamonic was forced from the lineup for 4-6 weeks.
Now it seems that Brock Nelson could be added to the Islanders growing injury list. Nelson left the game late in the third period against the Vancouver Canucks after getting tangled up with Player X behind the Canucks net.
Nelson came back to the bench, played a shift and didn’t play afterwards. He’ll be reevaluated today before the Islanders head on the road to play both Florida-based teams.
Islanders Injury List
Adding Nelson and his 10 points on the year would be a big loss for the Islanders. His 10 points are second on the team only to captain John Tavares with 11 points.
The Isles are getting contributions from across the lineup, with points from multiple sources. But Nelson is on a pace of his own. At his current rate he’s on pace for 63 points come season’s end.
He, along with Lee and Jason Chimera have struck a partnership that was incredibly productive last night, perfectly on display for the Isles first goal of the night and Chimera’s first of the season.

Fingers crossed that it isn’t anything serious and that Nelson can be back in the lineup for the road trip to Florida. Maybe if he has to sit out the Islanders will be forced to finally play Mathew Barzal? Oh wait he’s “Ill”. Maybe they dip into the farm?
