The New York Islanders had a rest day yesterday before their big stretch of games against tough Eastern Conference opponents.

A 3-0-1 stretch helped the New York Islanders get back in the mix in the Eastern Conference. Although their next stretch of games will be a big challenge. That’s why Doug Weight gave the Islanders an off day yesterday.

The Isles will be going up against the Blue Jackets, Canadiens and Capitals over their next three games. They’re three of the top four teams in the east.

“They’ll get their rest, rest their minds a bit, but we also have to watch the video and see what we’ve done,” said Islanders coach Doug Weight.

Before the Islanders lost to the Flyers momentum was on the Isles side as they were headed back into the mix. If, and it’s a big if, the Islanders want to be taken seriously they have to play well against tough opponents.

The Islanders are currently 4-6-3 in the Metro and 9-12-3 against  the east the turnaround has to begin now. These next three will be very telling for the direction of the Islanders second half.
