New York Islanders Daily: Hot Streak Into All-Star Break

The New York Islanders are riding a hot streak headed into the All-Star break. With the win over the Canadiens they extend their point streak to six games.
Who would’ve thought that Doug Weight would be the savior of the New York Islanders season. Since making the switch the Isles have been on fire as they carry a six game point streak into the break.
It’s pretty unbelievable. Using common sense you would’ve thought that the Islanders would only have marginal success with the switch, but this looks like an all together different team.
Weight, who has previously known as the man behind one of the worst power play units in the league has stepped in and helped ride the ship for the Isles.

The team is more of a puck possession team under Weight. Something they struggled with brutally under Jack Capuano was puck possession, but now it looks as if they are one of the better Corsi teams.
They’ve outscored their opponents 17-7 since Weight’s taken over. They’re still five games out of a playoff spot but they’ve jumped over a ton of teams to get to where they are and have three games in hand. The Isles have some life, mostly thanks to Doug Weight and Thomas Greiss.
