NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman seemed to fall asleep during the Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Islanders game.

The NHL Commissioner seemed to be catching up on some z’s during the third period of the Toronto Maple Leafs at the New York Islanders. The odd thing is tonight was a rather entertaining game.

Sure, I get it, I’ve been to plenty a games at the Barlcays Center and Nasssau Coliseum where I just felt the need to close my eyes a minute. Sometimes you can’t bear to watch this team as an Islander fan that’s understandable.

But, there’s a huge difference. I’m just some schmuck I don’t run a professional sports league. It’s not good marketing if you can’t stay awake during your own games.

The NHL wonders why they fall behind in popularity behind the NFL, MLB and NBA. The commish can’t even keep his eyes open to watch a tight game in the third period!

Of course Twitter ate this up

I feel like Bettman should just embrace the villain role similarly to what Roger Goodell has done with the NFL. Could you imagine if every time the camera panned to Bettman he had his eyes shut.

That would be an ultimate power move. NHL fans around the country already hate the guy why not just embrace the hate. Like the Joker once said “You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.”
