New York Islanders forward Anders Lee joined Boomer and Carton on WFAN Sports Radio to discuss hockey and his foundation too.

Wait a New York sports show talked hockey in the middle of February? It’s a rare sighting, but Anders Lee of the New York Islanders hopped on with Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton on WFAN’s morning show.

Initially, Boomer and Carton had a funny back and forth about hockey in Minnesota before introducing Anders. Then they got into some hockey talk.

You can here the full interview here:

Craig, who has made it clear that he isn’t the biggest hockey fan, brought up the Islanders hot streak since firing Jack Capuano and switching to Doug Weight.

Anders also brings up the point of how it’s different looking up in the standings at this point in the season. The last couple of years the Islanders weren’t doing the chasing, this is a new experience for them.

They certainly do have to keep a level of motivation night in and night out to keep pace. As Boomer pointed out there are four really solid teams in the Metro, it’s a tough task to be in this division.

Although Boomer is a Rangers fan and can have a Ranger fan like dig at the Islanders every once in a while, I respect him for his love of hockey and how he desperately tries to talk hockey in the New York market.

It’s really only Boomer and Don La Greca who try to blend in hockey on a consistent basis. Boomer was fair in this interview and even complimented both Nick Leddy and John Tavares as well.

Let’s hope that WFAN will be talking about the Isles in May as well.
