With the New York Islanders 4-2 win over the New York Rangers last night the Islanders kept their Brooklyn unbeaten streak against their rivals.

Despite some arena controversy over the past two years, and Rick Nash‘s comments about the Barclays Center aside the New York Islanders have had great success against the Rangers at their new home.

Last night was no different. The Islanders were able to get a lot of opportunities against Henrik Lundqvist and they were able to slide three past him and an empty netter to boot.

Anders Lee continued his post-Thanksgiving hot streak, while Andrew Ladd has begun to show signs of turning his season around. Ultimately the Isles are playing a more aggressive style, and it’s much more fun to watch.

The strong play against the Rangers has been a theme for three years now. The Isles are 6-1 in their last seven games against the Broadway Blueshirts.

Besides the fact that they are the other New York team, this is big because it proves that they can play with the stronger teams in the Metropolitan Division. If the Islanders are to make the playoffs they will most likely have to go up against one of the Metro Monsters.

Let’s see if the strong play at home transitions to the road as the Isles have a huge stretch of road games coming up.
