According to Arthur Staple the New York Islanders forward Casey Cizikas will miss a month due to his injury. It’s believed that he has a broken hand, which he suffered during the Islanders first game of their road trip.

Cizikas wasn’t the only one with an injury. Cal Clutterbuck had to leave the game as well but he will skate before the Isles game tonight.

Zeeker’s injury is a bit more concerning because the Islanders will have to try to fill his shoes for a long period of time. The initial response was the call up of Bracken Kearns.

More from NY Islanders News

Kearns is 35 years old and has only played a handful of games in the NHL over his career. He’s put up good numbers in Bridgeport this year for the Sound Tigers. He has 18 goals and 22 assists (40 points) in 51 games.

If anything Kearns will provide some grittiness which is the role Cizikas played. Isles fans were hoping to see Josh Ho-Sang but they will have to continue to be patient. Maybe next time.

The Islanders don’t have the worst ice (Eyes On Isles)

Wait really? Well, if all NHL ice is bad maybe the Islanders ice isn’t so bad after all! I guess stereotypes really do exist.

Kearns is a good fit (Eyes On Isles)

This is true. If you’re swapping out someone for Cizikas it might as well be a poor man’s Casey Cizikas.
