Just Sell

Join in on the feeding frenzy that is the trade deadline and sell. How else can the Islanders get top dollar for some of their middling players?

With so many buyers the price naturally rises. It’s just like any other market, the price of a good rises as the demand for said good rises.

When else could the Islanders get top dollar for Brock Nelson other than when the trade market is overflooding with buyers? His ghosting in and out of games isn’t worth the $2.5 million he’s set to make over the next two season.

Brock is good for 20-25 goals in a season, which should be enough value in the eyes of a team looking for depth scoring down the stretch to see a good return come back the Islanders way.

How about Dennis Seidenberg? He’s at the end of a one-year deal, and would certainly attract the attention of any buyers looking for a depth defenseman with a Stanley Cup ring on his finger. How does a second round pick sound for him?

It’s not like either of the two are what stands in the way of the Islanders making the playoffs this season or not. Shipping them out for draft picks or prospects to be packaged later as part of a big impact trade seems like smart business.

Ideally seeing Nikolai Kulemin go would be a nice bit of news. He’s a good player, but his $4.187 million cap hit for the next two seasons isn’t something that will interest most.
