The rumor mills have been working overtime as the trade deadline approaches. Obviously, the New York Islanders name is brought up in these speculations.

Ah yes, the panic before the deadline, oh how I’ve missed you. The trade deadline is fast approaching and the New York Islanders are being rumored to have an interest in landing someone at the deadline.

Arthur Staple reported that Garth Snow would only have an interest in players who aren’t pending free agents. That leaves Matt Duchene or Jordan Eberle on the table, but in Staple’s story, he also said something that caught me by surprise.

Doug Weight seems rather content with the roster.

“I really like, when you sit down and look at everyone healthy in two, three weeks, hopefully we’re a pretty darn good team.”

I’ll say this the Islanders turnaround has been unexpected and a lot of fun to watch. Although, if the goal is to compete the Isles absolutely have to gamble and possibly overpay. Garth has been leading this team for a decade and the rebuild still isn’t complete. If not now then when!

Trading a prospect like Mathew Barzal or Ryan Pulock sucks, but wasting John Tavares‘ prime years hoping and waiting for prospects to pan out sucks even more.

10-year anniversary of Ryan Smyth trade (Eyes On Isles)

(Not so) Fun Fact: Garth Snow has moved a first round pick only once in a trade and it was for the talented Ryan Smyth. Hard to believe that was ten years ago already.

Isles need in on this market (Eyes On Isles)

This seems to be a very good market for sellers, that’s why the Isles should also jump in and sell some pieces as well. (Looking at you Dennis Seidenberg)
