What does a combined New York Islander Calgary Flames opening lineup look like? Who are the best players between the two clubs in all six positions?

The New York Islanders head to Western Canada to take on the Flames in Calgary for a late afternoon engagement at the Saddledome.

While the Calgary Flames are comfortably in the playoff mix in the Western Conference with a six-point cushion between them and the Los Angeles Kings in the second wild-card spot, the Islanders are clinging to that final spot in the East.

Only three points separate the Islanders from another four teams below the in the Eastern Conference. Points are vital to start growing that gap between the haves (the Isles ) and the have nots.

So to Calgary! A team the Isles have faced 14 times since 2004 and have an impressive 10-4-0 record against. Getting a win and taking the road trip tally to 4-1-1 would be absolutely fantastic, and increase their points lead on those four other teams below the Isles. Neither of which play today.

To get you primed and ready for a game that very much needed hyping, here’s a combined starting six between the two clubs.
