Left Wing: Johnny Gaudreau

Johnny Gaudreau would cure ALL of the Islanders overtime woes. The slight of frame Salem, N.J. native scores highlight reel goal after highlight reel goal for the Flames in the extra frame.

He might be small of stature but he’s becoming a giant in the game. With only two seasons under his belt before the 2016-17 season, Gaudreau has amassed 142 points in 159 games played.

Yep. That’s two quips at his size. But at 5’9″ 157lbs he isn’t exactly what you would consider “built for hockey”. It’s remarkable what this 23-year-old has been able to do in a league dominated by goliaths.

His soft hands, dexterous skating, and maneuvering make him an absolute force out on the ice. Pair him with the two players that are to come and there’s no limit on what this team could accomplish offensively in the league.

Imagine if the Isles had selected Gaudreau at #95 in the 2011 draft instead of Robbie Russo. Oh boy. I can’t wait for that episode of Malcolm Gladwell’s Revisionist History.
