Mike Sillinger

Mike Sillinger. A+. NYI Career Stats: 141 GP, 87 PTS, 57.9% FOW. New York Islanders.

The man who’s played for almost half the league (12 teams) and was traded a record nine times had 141 games with the Isles to close out his career.

He came to the Isles as a free agent in the twilight of his career at the tender age of 35. Where he put up, get ready for it, 59 points in 2006-07. A career year for the 16 year NHL veteran.

His production helped put the Isles back in the playoffs after missing out the year before. It wasn’t just his points, but the draws! In his three season Sillinger hit an average of 57.9%.

His high-water mark with the Isles came in that first season, with a 57.88% on the faceoff dot. It falls well short of his record 62.88% achieved in 1998-99. But who cares at that point? He’s still winning the majority of his faceoffs!

At 35 years-old, with 59 points and a 57.88% faceoff percentage? What more could you ask form an aging free agent?

I encourage you to check out the number I got from NHL.com. Tavares isn’t far off, he’s in the top 10 with a 51.2% rating. He’s got time to improve that number.
