The New York Islanders goalie situation has been sticky the last couple of weeks. We might see a familiar face soon to save the day.

When Jaroslav Halak got sent down it didn’t make a ton of sense at the time. Sure, the New York Islanders needed to play Thomas Greiss more but they should’ve realized that J.F. Berube is incapable of being an NHL goalie.

He’s made it pretty clear the last few weeks that he can’t handle it. That’s why coach Doug Weight has ridden with Thomas Greiss on a nightly basis.

Although Arthur Staple believes that we may see Halak soon. Doug Weight said “We never lost faith in Jaro. We think he needed to reboot his career, get some things solved, and it looks like he’s done it. Definitely, he’ll be in our conversation plate.”

It certainly seems like the best option available for the Isles. This isn’t meant as a knock on Greiss, he’s played well my fear is just that he’ll get burnt out over the next few weeks as the Isles are fighting for a playoff spot.

If anything this will just provide a fresh reliable option on the bench. If anything this just proves Garth Snow‘s incompetency when it comes to handling the goalie situation.

The Islanders got snubbed out of the 2018 Winter Classic that will be held at Citi Field, which you know is like really close to Long Island where all the Islanders fans are.
