New York Islanders Daily: Anders Lee’s ‘Kancer Jam’

New York Islanders forward Anders Lee hosted a charity Kan-Jam tournament to help fundraise for cancer research after Saturday’s game.
The New York Islanders suffered a tough loss on Saturday. Although the loss sucked and could definitely hurt the Isles playoff hopes we have to remember the more important things in life. Which is exactly what Anders Lee did after the game on Saturday.
Lee hosted The First Annual Anders Lee Kancer Jam. It was a 32 team Kan Jam tournament. For those who don’t know Kan Jam is a frisbee game played with two cans and a frisbee, it’s a popular lawn/beach game.
Lee was able to help raise $100,000 towards pediatric cancer research.

Lee’s having a fantastic year for the Islanders, it’s actually the best of his career. He’s already got a career high of 27 goals.
The production on ice is important, obviously, and it’s part of the reason Islanders fans like him. Though his off the ice stuff is just as if not more important. There are so many bad stories that come out with athletes that it’s good to highlight the great things that athletes do. Those who use their platform for good deserve the recognition.
