Adam Pelech

Cap Hit: $854,000
End of Season Status: RFA

Being called up from the minors doesn’t always go smoothly, but for Pelech it absolutely has. Adam Pelech addition to the Islanders roster has been absolutely seamless. He looks like he’s been on this team for years.

The isles need to resign Pelech. Not because he’s a stud defenceman, he’s only got seven points in 33 games played for the Isles. It’ because he’s a reliable defenseman to have. He easily slots in that 3-4 role or a 1-2 role.

He’s paired fabulously with Nick Leddy on the Islanders top pairing when Boychuk has missed due to injury.

The Islanders should sign Pelech to the Calvin de Haan bridge deal. A three-year contract worth $5.9 million, or round it up to a $6 million, no one likes to look at a $1,966,667 million cap hit.
