Here it is the last four names in the Islanders bracket challenge. It’s the final four. Four names enter, only two remain. In the Torrey Division, it was Potvin vs. Smith.

On the way to the Torrey division, final Islanders legend Denis Potvin and Billy Smith took out a number of Isles legends.

Potvin took down the likes of Ken Morrow 92-8, then took down fellow teammate and Hall of Famer, oh, and six-time Stanley Cup Champion Bryan Trottier by a narrow margin 54-46.

Billy Smith took down Pat Flatley 94-6 in the first round of voting. Then it was Pierre Turgeon to fall to the Hall of Fam goaltender in the Elite Eight, by a margin of 75-25.

Both contestants were dominant in most of their matchups. Let’s be honest it was going to be a coin flip between Potvin and Trottier. Two absolute heavyweights in the franchise.

But in this contest, it was going to be another lopsided victory.

Denis Potvin took the round by a margin of 87-13.

It was going to be either Denis Potvin or Brian Trottier to get out of the division. No matter who they faced. But Billy Smith probably put up the chance at usurping those odds.

Smith is beloved by the Isles faithful for his no-nonsense style of shot stopping and for his physical edge to a position that isn’t known for its combatants. The fact that he was able to get under Gretzky’s skin probably cemented that status even more.

Next: Torrey Division Elite Eight

Denis Potvin will now face Mike Bossy for the prestige of being crowned Eyes on Isles first ever Bracket Challenge Champion. It’s an honor that he’ll want to clear room in his trophy case for.
