NHL Art Ross update: Brad Marchand won’t likely win it. Connor McDavid is now a full eight points ahead of Marchand, who hasn’t put up a point since playing versus the Isles. Rejoice NHL universe Rejoice.
Since firing Claude Julien the Bruins have steadied the ship and are steering right for the playoffs. But nautical metaphors aside, the Bruins are headed for choppy waters. (I couldn’t resist).
In their last six games of the season, five are to be played at home. Sounds great, except when you consider that Boston has dropped a total of 32 points at home on the season with a 20-16-0 record.
In the last week of their season, they face the Lightning, Senators, and Capitals at home. If they’re going to drop any of those easily it’s going to be against the Capitals. For reasons already stated. They’re the class of the league for a reason.
Then there’s that Lightning game on April 4th. It’s going to be the closest thing to a playoff game without actually being a playoff game. Three points are going to be handed out in this game. Two to the victor and one to the loser. With the way Tampa’s playing I have Boston dropping a point here.
The only road game the Bruins have is against the second best team in the league, the Chicago Blackhawks. That’s not a game I’d put a ‘W’ beside on the calendar.
That brings Boston’s total to 93 points for the season.
