Carolina Hurricanes

Opposition Breakdown: Established 4- Bubble 1- Bottom 2
Venue: H 4/A 3
Back-to-Back: 2

Where did Carolina come from? Weren’t they a number of points behind the pack? How did they get back within touching distance of the playoff picture?

They had a late by-week, falling in the third week of February. So they had a number of games in hand. But March, March is where Carolina pulled themselves into the picture.

They had 16 games so far this month. That’s 32 points up for grabs. They dropped nine points going 9-2-5 with still one more game to play at home against Columbus.

The problem for Carolina is they have to play four of their remaining seven against “established” opposition. Such as the Blue Jackets, Penguins, Wild and the Blues. Half on the road and half at home.

Pittsburgh and Minnesota on the road are games the Canes are going to drop. That’s four points off the board already.

Then there’s a game against the Isles on April 6th in Carolina. The last time they met in Carolina the Isles took the game 3-2 in overtime. I think the Isles take this one. After that last road trip, I have faith the Islanders are going to show well.

That’s six points dropped, bringing the Hurricanes to 90 points on the season.
