New York Islanders Daily: Win And Get Help In Playoff Race

The New York Islanders did their part with a win and got some help scoreboard watching to stay alive heading into Saturday’s game.
A quick start jumpstarted the New York Islanders on Thursday night in Carolina. Brock Nelson got the scoring going on a not so pretty goal, but hey if it goes in the back of the net who cares if it looks good.
Then just a few short minutes later Scott Mayfield scored. Just 4:39 into the game the Islanders had a two goal lead and were on their way.
Things began to calm down after that, although Jaroslav Halak remained consistent. He was locked in stopping all 29 Carolina Hurricane shots.

Halak was the biggest story in this game. Since returning from his “Bridgeport Banishment” Halak is posting a .950 sv% and 1.51 GAA. That right there should be enough for Jon Ledecky to give Garth Snow a pink slip this summer.
So, the Isles did their part with a win, and then we had to wait for the Lightning and Maple Leafs game to finish. The Islanders got the much-needed help from the Lightning as they won 4-1 over the Leafs.
With two to play the Islanders are still kicking.
Isles Tweet Of The Day
Halak’s GAA in 6 games since his ridiculous punishment ended? Oh, just 1.51. Nah, #Isles didnt need him back in Jan, Feb, early March. Nah.
