Former New York Islanders goalie and current analyst Rick DiPietro was wearing a good luck charm for the Islanders. It was a Tim Tebow jersey.

The thing I love about Rick DiPietro is that he still thinks he’s a part of the team. The New York Islanders are stuck giving him a ton of money so at least he still bleeds orange and blue.

That’s part of what makes him the likable character that he is today. DiPietro has bitten the head of plastic rats, ripped off his suit to display a Greiss is right shirt, and you can normally catch him in a whacky color suit on the MSG Networks.

Tonight was nothing out of the ordinary for DiPietro. He needed a good luck charm, and frankly something to keep the Devil away. This was too perfect

It makes perfect sense! Here’s the backstory: Tim Tebow just hit his first professional home run the other night in his quest to become a major league ball player.

Tebow is a well known Christian so when it came out that the pitcher who was drafted 666th overall it just seemed to make a little too much sense that Tebow would go yard off a player who was drafted at that number.

The Isles could use some luck on their side as they try to make the playoffs three points out with just two games to go.

The Isles are currently going up the Devils in New Jersey and the score is tied at zero after one period of play.

DiPietro rocking a Mets Tim Tebow backwards on TV is peak DiPietro. Maybe it’ll be the lucky charm to get the Isles a W? Hockey players are superstitious and you know what they say “Ya Gotta Believe!”
