It’s been three months since we’ve last heard of Jack Capuano, but now the former New York Islanders head coach is back behind the bench; as an assistant for Team USA.

Former New York Islanders head coach Jack Capuano is going to be reprising his role from the World Cup of Hockey for Team USA as an assistant for Detroit’s Jeff Blashill at this summer’s IIHF World Championship.

The Islanders let go of their long-time coach back in January of this year. After over six years behind the bench Capuano was let go after the team was toiling at the bottom of the Eastern Conference just one year removed from their first playoff series win in 23 years.

For a while it seems that Capuano might emerge as the Vegas Golden Knight’s first head coach in the franchises history. Until they officially names Gerard Gallant yesterday.

Capuano will have a few familiar faces in Brock Nelson and Anders Lee around him as the USA try to forge on from that last international ice hockey tournament they participated in. Cause it didn’t go so well.

It’s nice to see that Jack Capuano is back doing what he loves to do. So long as it’s not for the Islanders.
