Columbus Blue Jackets

You can almost already write the Blue Jackets off. They’re already down 3-0 against the defending Stanley Cup champions. Today might just be their last day.

But you know what, good. That’s what happens to PDO darlings like the Blue Jackets. Ranking third with a 1.02 PDO rating the Blue Jackets went from the bottom of the NHL last season to the top with a ridiculous 15 game win streak.

What does that have to do with the Islanders? The Blue Jackets can’t win because luck can’t be the one sole reason for winning. It defeats the entire purpose of everything else in the regular season and the off-season.

It means we can’t blame Garth Snow for his terrible terrible moves this season. We just have to hope well be lucky enough next season. No thanks.

Pittsburgh Penguins

Sidney Crosby. He already has two cups to his name. A Conn Smythe, even though Phil Kessel should have won that. It’s all annoying, but the biggest annoyance is just how dominant Crosby is when he faces the Islanders.

In 58 career games against the Islanders Sidney Crosby has 101 points. That’s right, he’s averaging 1.74 points per game against the Isles. Eight are game winners, again the most in his career against a single team.

Crosby either just hates everything about the Isles or the Isles are really bad keeping him quite. I prefer to reciprocate the hate.
