New York Islanders Top 50 Players All-Time

Ranking the top 50 New York Islanders of all-time wasn’t easy. But our staff did it. We poured over stats and we all voted and came up with this list.
Voting on the top 50 New York Islanders players in franchise history took our staff of ten a lot of time to compile. There were 490 different players to sift through. And about as many heated debates.
To reduce the arguments we decided to structure our voting and eventual ranking like so:
We set a benchmark on a minimum number of games played. We set it to 100 games played with the Islanders. No need to include people like Doug Crossman (96 games played), Mathieu Schneider (78 games played), or Viktor Kozlov (81 games played) as some of the best Isles players ever. If they weren’t around for at least two seasons their impact couldn’t have been that great.
We’d also only judge a player based on his accomplishments as an Islander. This wasn’t the 50 greatest NHL players of all-time after all. Bryan Trottier might have won two extra cups with the Penguins, but that wasn’t going to affect the voting.
The votes were conducted like an Australian election; preferential voting. Every team member picked their first choice, followed by their second, and so-on until they hit 50.
The higher the rank the more points a player got in the final ranking. In the ranking, every player will have their rank followed by the number of points they accumulated from our staff rankings.
So without further ado, to the list!
