The NHL has started to name the three finalists for individual awards. Outside of Travis Hamonic being named for the Foundation Award, the New York Islanders are going to make a scant appearance. So let’s have our own, Isles only awards.

It’s hard not to get a little jealous as a New York Islanders fan come awards time. Outside of John Tavares’ herculean efforts, we generally don’t get any love at awards time.

An Islander hasn’t won an individual award since Doug Weight won the King Clancy trophy back in 2010-11. Before that, it was Michael Peca‘s Selke trophy in 2001-02.

Seems like every ten years we get something. So look out Islanders trophy cabinet, cause in 2020-21 you’re going to get some new company.

So to fill the void we thought we’d vote on our some of the same awards. The entire Eyes on Isles staff was asked to submit a three name ballot for each of the following awards:

Vezina, Calder, Norris, Hart, Lady Byng, Masterton, and the Selke.

Just like the NHL, we’ll reveal our three finalists and then come the awards ceremony on June 21st, we’ll reveal our winners.
