New York Islanders 2016-17 Top 10 Highlights

The 2016-17 season wasn’t a barometer for success for the New York Islanders. But even though they didn’t make the playoffs there were still a number of highlights to talk about. Here are the top ten.
The New York Islanders 2016-17 season is defined by how drastic of a change occurred after they appointed Doug Weight as Head Coach from his predecessor Jack Capuano. But within that singular narrative, there were 82 games played.
And within those 82 games, there were a countless number of goals, shots, hits, dangles, saves, and fights. Singular events that happen over the course of a regular hockey game.
Most them aren’t anything more that routine. A shot from a streaking winger followed by an easy glove save by the goaltender. Freezes the puck and a faceoff ensues. Rinse and repeat for 60 minutes.
But every now and then there’s an event that happens that just gets you out of your seat, whether you’re at the arena or sitting on your couch at home.
This list will go over ten of those moments from the 2016-17 season for the New York Islanders. Ten moments that brought us out of our seat and likely yell out some combination of “OH! MY! GAWD!” or “WHAT! JUST! HAPPENED!?” or something with a number of explicatives.
