Josh Bailey OT Goal v. Ducks

It was game three of the season, and the Islanders already had a two-game losing streak going. The controlled the scoreboard with a 2-0 advantage until the third period.

Where a goal from Cam Fowler and Ryan Getzlaf in the final minute of the frame pushed things to overtime. Late goals against would continue to plague the Isles throughout the season, but this one was already rough. They could lose their first three games in a row.

In the dying seconds of the first minute of the extra frame, the Isles were pressing in the Ducks end. After a missed chance by Cal Clutterbuck, Nick Leddy cycled to the puck to the point to Josh Bailey who was fresh off the bench.

Bailey took the puck cleanly and danced around every single Duck on the ice, including the goaltender and tucked the puck into an open net.

We weren’t used to seeing Josh Bailey take charge by starting a finishing the play on his own. At least for a second, those who decried Josh Bailey’s talent all these years were quiet for the night. Bailey had just put on one heck of a show.
