Clutterbuck Destroy’s Brian Campbell

It’s nothing new to hear that Cal Clutterbuck put a big hit on a player. He does it every year. Heck, there’s even a Cal Clutterbuck top 10 hits highlight reel made by TSN.

While it might not be new, it’s great to see happen. Especially when it clean well laid, and the guy doesn’t get hurt, and the entire opposing team doesn’t converge on him. Which is exactly what happens here.

The hit he laid on Campbell is so clean that no one in a Blackhawks uniform bothers to contest Clutterbuck about it. Maybe that’s why the Blackhawks got absolutely bullied by the Predators in the first round?

What’s even better about this hit is that it generated a scoring chance or the Islanders. Campbell wasn’t able to clear the zone with the puck falling with to Cizikas at the blue line. Now being out of the play, Cizikas had a wide open lane.

Unfortunately, Casey Cizikas has a career 9.4% shooting percentage and showed it on that play by shooting the puck over the net and wasting a perfect opportunity to push the Isles two goals ahead of the Blackhawks with three minutes left in the second.
