There was a rumor circulating around the old interweb saying that the New York Islanders could play a preseason game at the new Nassau Coliseum.

Peter Schwartz who works for a CBS radio said that he heard through a source that the New York Islanders will play a preseason game at the new Coliseum. Now to back track it was rumored that the Isles would have an agreement to play six games a year at the Coli.

Schwartz went on to say that the Isles owners aren’t 100% on board with that idea anyway and that the NHL would have to approve this.

This is nothing against Schwartz who likely does have viable sources but I’m sticking with the I’ll believe it when I see it mantra. I’ve heard way too many rumors with where the Islanders will play over the last few years.

Heck, a source I know thinks they’re coming back to the Coliseum eventually but I still am not sold on that idea.

I might have the wrong attitude on the subject, but I’ve become immune to getting excited on the stadium rumors. Until it becomes 100% official and I sit in my old Coliseum seat I won’t be excited about it.

Although Schwartz brought up an interesting point. A concert on October 3rd was recently canceled which opens up a free day for the Isles to have a preseason game. Hey, you never know.
