New York Islanders prospect Kieffer Bellows is leaving Boston University and headed to the WHL and will join Portland’s team.

While your enjoying your off day why not read about some New York Islanders news? Lucky for you the Daily’s never sleep! Today we will be talking about former first round selection Kieffer Bellows.

According to Brian Compton Bellows will be taking his talents from Boston to Portland. He’s going from the NCAA to the WHL, which is definitely a step up in competition.

Bellows BU statistics don’t necessarily jump off the page at you. Seven goals and seven assists for 14 points in 34 games. Plus his 40 minutes in the box is nothing to write home about either.

More from NY Islanders News

He was much better at the World Juniors where he had two goals and an assist in seven games for team USA. With that said, I’m curious to see how Bellows reacts to the WHL.

Hopefully, he is able to step his game up, but I’m not expecting to see Bellows in an Islanders sweater anytime soon. He’s a ways away on the prospect pipeline. Expect to see Mathew Barzal or Michael Dal Colle before Bellows.
