From a return to Nassau to Josh Ho-Sang for the top line, here’s a round-up of what went on this week in the world of the New York Islanders.

We start with a rumored return for the New York Islanders to the now refurbished Nassau Coliseum for a preseason game in the 2017-18 NHL season.

The rumor comes from CBS on-air personality Peter Schwartz who tweeted that the Isles will be heading back to their traditional home for a preseason game.

Before you get excited this is just a rumor, there is plenty of time for this to change over the course of the summer. But even if this rumor comes true let’s not get carried away with what it could mean.

A preseason game shouldn’t be taken as a dress rehearsal for what could eventually become a permanent move. Remember that the Coliseum can still only hold 13,900 in fixed seats.

The Islanders moving back to Nassau permanently remains but a pipe dream. They still have a deal with the Barclays Center to work out. Their short-term future remains at the Barc. And in the long-term, the Isles are looking for a new home.

Just take this possibility for what it is, a great nod to the teams past. Because that’s all it’s going to be.
