Nashville and Islanders Aren’t the Same

Now that the Nashville Predators are going to the Stanley Cup finals the records of both the Predators and Islanders have been bandied about Social Media as some sort of: “See! We could have been there!”

It can’t be further from the truth.

Sure both teams had the exact same 41-29-12 record through 82 regular season games. But that’s where the similarities end between the two.

Nashville boast and incredibly productive and mobile defensive unit of Roman Josi, P.K. Subban, Ryan Elias and Mattias Ekholm.

The Isles have Nick Leddy as that mobile defender/attacking threat. It’s something they need to address this offseason; getting the puck out of their zone and up to the forwards.

Maybe the addition of Ryan Pulock can do that, or maybe just shuffling the pairings might balance things out a bit better.
