During Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final a fan threw a catfish on the ice sparking a New York Islanders trending topic on Twitter.

Arthur Staple who covers the New York Islanders for Newsday sent out a tweet in response to a catfish being thrown on the ice. He asked what Islander fans would throw on the ice and the responses he got were pretty comical.

This gave me a good laugh during the second period of Game 1 last night. Listen, it’s a long offseason not every single day will be hard hitting news or hot takes. Sometimes we have to take a day to laugh at something lighthearted on social media.

If I had to pick something for the Islanders fans would throw on the ice I’d want to bring back those foam pucks that they used to sell at the Coliseum. Remember you had to see who could get it closer to center ice? I’d bring that back. I used to get great joy from throwing those things until my shoulder popped out of its socket.
