New York Islanders: Best and Worst Jerseys in Franchise History

We’re Playing Hockey, Not Lacrosse: 2011-14
Prior to the 2011-12 season, the New York Islanders unveiled jerseys that fans wanted absolutely no part of. With black and gray coloring that didn’t fit the culture of the team one bit, and the name and number on the front, this jersey has got to be one of the most hideous jerseys to ever be worn on NHL ice.
The formatting on the front of the jerseys is one that resembles a lacrosse jersey, and as you can tell, it didn’t translate well at all. The gray color on the outsides as well as the ugly triangular shape on the sides is another thing that makes me cringe when I see these jerseys.
With the generic font used throughout these jerseys, Charles Wang must’ve let a twelve-year-old design their third jerseys through MS Paint, because it certainly looks like it.
These jerseys were an absolute insult to the New York Islanders rich history, the color scheme didn’t fit the team’s identity at all, but New York Islanders fans everywhere should consider themselves lucky that these jerseys were only third jerseys.
