The Orange Alternates: 2002-2007

No matter what any of you guys think, these jerseys will go down as one of my favorite jerseys of all time. And it’s because they have a very special place in my heart. It was the first New York Islanders jersey I ever received.

In 2006 my mom took be to see the New York Islanders play the Buffalo Sabres. They wore these orange beauties. I loved them so much my mom had to get me one before we left the arena. And she obliged.

It might not have had a name on the back, but I loved it with all my heart and wore it to all 41 home games a year from 2006 until I moved from Long Island to South Florida in 2010.

Now that jersey is hanging up in my room with signatures from guys from the 1980s as well as some of the players who took the ice during the four seasons I had it.

As for the design, I am a huge fan of the color scheme, using the orange as the primary color and blue as the secondary color. It fits the culture of the New York Islanders nicely and no matter what, it will always be one of my favorite jerseys of all time.

You’re welcome Edmonton. Hope you enjoy those primary orange home jerseys next season.
