Dallas Stars

Did anyone have a good year in Dallas? Just about every player regressed either by a touch or by a whole lot. Looking at you Jiri Hudler. Although at 33-years-old maybe we should have seen this coming. That and his 19.6% shooting percentage during that flagship season in Calgary.

But what about UFA Patrick Sharp. He still had a down year, and at 35-year-old he’s creeping ever so close to hanging up his skates. I’m not ready to say that he’s no longer any good. I’d go so far as to trade for his negotiating rights.

He’s three season’s removed from 77 points and a single season off a 55 point effort. He’s not done and dusted just yet. A fourth rounder seems like a fair price to pay just to get his negotiating rights.

It’s a risky bet, but a fourth-rounder isn’t a big loss. Whatever the Isles sign him to would be the bigger issue.
