Edmonton Oilers

So Edmonton wants Ryan Pulock. Ok. Fine. The Islanders have some desires of their own.

Jordan Eberle has been mentioned a number of times as a potential target for the Islanders. And it makes sense. With $6 million on the cap for the next two season, and a 51 point production last season he’s someone the Isles can use.

But how about the other $6 million man in Edmonton. The one with three names; Ryan Nugent-Hopkins?

After this season it became evident that Ryan Strome just wasn’t the guy the Isles need in the number two center spot. So why not target a Nugent-Hopkins that’s seen diminished minutes.

With the emergence of Conor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, Nugent-Hopkins is playing third line minutes. Sure he’s playing with McDavid. Hopkins hasn’t only seen his minutes go down, but his production has decreased also.

Ready NHL defenseman Pulock, combined with the Isles first round pick in this draft and future NHL defenseman Parker Wotherspoon may be enough to get it done. Although after that Larsson/Hall trade who knows.
