Florida Panthers

If Matt Moulson is a serious consideration than former New York Islander Thomas Vanek should be as well. At 33-years-old he’s not young, but he isn’t past due either.

Spending most of the year with Detroit, Vanek put up 38 points in 48 games with the Red Wings and added another eleven with the Panthers as they failed to reach the playoffs.

The big question is will he want to play in Brooklyn? Becuase if you recall, he made comments after becoming a Minnesota Wild, that he spurned the Isles due to the move to Brooklyn. Speaking to Twin Cities Pioneer Press‘ Chad Graff in 2015 he had the following to say about Brooklyn:

"“The way it was mentioned to me was, you’d have morning skate down here (at Barclays Center) and pretty much get a day room (at a hotel). With the distances and the traffic, I didn’t feel like my (sons) would come to many games. And that, to me, wasn’t attractive,”"

Time heals all wounds right? Maybe Vanek could be convinced that Brooklyn ain’t that bad.
