Los Angeles Kings

How much are you willing to believe that the Los Angeles Kings are the team that Pierre Lebrun was talking about in a tweet from a few days ago. According to LeBrun, an anonymous NHL team is in talks with Vegas to ship them their first round pick so they’d take a bad contract.

Like a Dustin Brown, type of bad contract. That’s $5.875 million for the next five season to a play that put up 36 points last season.

That contract has left the Kings in some tough cap trouble.

With Tyler Toffoli left to sign this season, along with a small cast of RFA/UFAs including a Jarome Iginla that seems to be at the end of his rope. All with just over $9 million in cap space to do so.

So, the Kings liberate themselves of $3.875 million on the cap for the next three years for 44 points producer Tanner Pearson, for the Isles highly touted prospect and WHL playoff MVP Mathew Barzal (who makes $925,000 on the cap) and a second round pick.
