Minnesota Wild

Just like the Chicago Blackhawks the Minnesota Wild are buried in big contracts. With the likes of Zach Parise, Ryan Sutter, Miko Koivu, and Jason Pominville making a combined roughly $27.5 million on the cap. All are no younger than 32 years of age.

It doesn’t leave much room to sign free agents Nino Niederreiter and Michael Granlund. Who combined for a combined 126 points this season. So maybe teammate and 56 point player this season Charlie Coyle becomes available.

With only $2.5 on the cap for next season, Strome would save $700,000 on the cap and bring the potential for a 50 point player. A change of scenery might just be what Strome needs to get back to that level again.

But rather than just saying: “Hey Minnesota. We’ll take your 56 point player and you take our once-was 50 point player. Thanks!” The Isles would toss in their first round pick to Minnesota, who carelessly used their to acquire Martin Hanzal at the deadline.
