Ottawa Senators

The Ottawa Senators are in a tough spot. They’re $7 million from the cap ceiling and still have a number of players to sign. Ryan Dzingel and Jean-Gabriel Pageau being the big two.

That should be enough to get them to bridge deals. But we all know that the Senators are an internal cap team. One that doesn’t spend to the cap ceiling. They just don’t have the fiscal means to do so.

Last season, after missing out of the playoffs, Owner Eugene Melnyk held a press conference where he told the assembled media that $62 million should be enough for a playoff team. Cost cutting is a hot topic in Canada’s capital.

So how about two prime young talents, making under a million for the next two seasons to three seasons and a second round pick in this year’s draft for arguably Ottawa’s best forward and 55 point player last season.
