San Jose Sharks

The New York Islanders power play was absolutely anemic last season. Ranking 28th in the league with a 15% efficiency. They could use some help.

The Isles only managed 35 goals on 234 attempts on the man advantage. What if they could get a guy that has 48 power play points in the last four seasons? Then what if the ask was Brock Nelson.

With only 26 points this season Boedker has been a disappointment in San Jose. The Sharks acquired him via free agency on a $16 million four-year deal.

To be fair to Boedker his power play time was cut in half with the Sharks. Back in Arizona, when all his special team success occurred, he was averaging 4:04  in 2015-16 when he his 18 powerplay points.

If Boedker returns to form this is a win-win for the Isles. But that’s a big if. So a third round pick next year is compensation enough for the risk.
