New York Islanders Trade Targets for Every NHL Team

Washington Capitals
We’re all in agreement that the Capitals will re-sign T.J. Oshie right? Sure he’s 30, but he isn’t the problem in Washington. They knew what they were getting when they got him from St Louis and he’s delivered.
In two years he’s put up 51 and 56 points after a 55 point effort in his last season with the Blues. In the playoffs, Oshie’s put up 22 points in 25 games. Which is good for second in team playoff scoring behind Niklas Backstrom since he arrived.
But because they keep him, one of Evgeny Kuznetsov or Andre Burakovsky, both RFAs this season are likely on the way out. If I were a gambling man, I’d put my money on the Washington Capitals trying to deal Burakovsky. And the New York Islanders should pounce.
Kuznetsov’s ceiling is just too high for the Capitals to give up on him now. Just a season ago he led the team in points with 77 and sat third this season with 59.
Burakovsky, on the other hand, hasn’t surpassed the 38 point marker in the regular season. In the playoffs, he virtually disappears netting seven points over 25 games in the last two seasons. It’s not the type of scoring depth that the Capitals are looking for in their continued quest for a cup.
