For the last few days in New York Islanders land, it’s been nothing but trade discussion, and we had some interesting ones along the way.

While the 2016-2017 NHL season is winding down the New York Islanders are focusing on gearing up for the 2017-2018 season. Most recognize that the Isles are going to have to improve via the trade this offseason and there were definitely some interesting ideas thrown around this weekend.

First, there was the Islanders could trade Travis Hamonic for Jordan Eberle or Matt Duchene. The Islanders already went down the Matt Duchene path before, maybe it’s time for them to try the Eberle way now?

I made the case for why Eberle is more realistic than Duchene.

Then Isles legend Mike Bossy threw out the idea of trading John Tavares to the Montreal Canadiens for Alex Galchenyuk, Mikhail Sergachev, goaltender Charlie Lindgren and this year’s first round pick.

Sorry Mike, but with all due respect, there’s no positive scenario in which the Islanders trade John Tavares. It would be looked at as an epic failure of a rebuild.

Then last night we dropped a bomb of our own going through the other teams in the league, excluding the Golden Knights, and coming up with a trade. Fair warning, we are not claiming that these trades would actually happen all that we’re trying to do is come up with the most likely trade scenario from each team.
