With each passing day, it seems like Colorado is more willing to trade Matt Duchene. Are the New York Islanders really the front-runners to land him?

What did we talk about yesterday? You can’t put down twitter this time of year there is just far too much going on with the draft, expansion draft, and peak trade time around the corner. The New York Islanders rumor mill has been firing on all cylinders.

According to Gord Miller of TSN the New York Islanders are the front-runners to land Matt Duchene. You’ve probably heard this name mentioned no less than 1,000 times over the past six months.

The Islanders attempted to acquire him at the deadline but the asking price was too high at the time and nothing got done. Although now it is believed that Travis Hamonic for Matt Duchene straight up is on the table.

I don’t see how that’s physically possible but if so the Isles have to pull the trigger as soon as possible. Though what if they have to throw in Ryan Pulock or Mathew Barzal?

Obviously, Hamonic straight up is the much better deal for the Isles but even if the asking price includes Barzal or Pulock Garth Snow should think long and hard about it. If you want John Tavares to extend you are going to have to prove that you’re willing to go all in.
