You Can have Josh Bailey

The New York Islanders leave Josh Bailey unprotected in the expansion draft for a first round pick from the Golden Knights.

We’ve seen Garth Snow work magic on draft day. Twice turning two second round picks into first round picks for players like Brock Nelson in 2010, Josh Ho-Sang in 2014 and again a year later for Anthony Beauvillier.

As it stands the Vegas Golden Knights are going to be stockpiling first round picks. They already have their own at number six. And deals seem to be emerging daily between Vegas and other teams.

From what little information that’s leaked regarding these deals Vegas already has an “understanding” with Anaheim, Chicago, and Columbus for the expansion draft.

Now give Garth two first round picks to play with, but rather than use them to draft players, Garth ships them to someone who could use it.

Like Colorado, for example, how does a trade for Matt Duchene with Travis Hamonic, the Islanders first round and a second first round received from the Golden Knights sound?

The Isles might not strike any deals with Vegas and just live with what happens. They’re best course of action when it comes to the Expansion Draft might just be to deal one of the defensemen that they just can’t protect rather than trying to deal with Vegas. The next six days are going to be crazy. Get ready.
