New York Islanders Daily: Doug Weight Adds Another Former Teammate

The New York Islanders head coach has loved adding former teammates and players to his coaching staff. Add another one to the list.
If you played with Doug Weight there’s a good chance you’ll be on the New York Islanders coaching staff before the season starts. Kelly Buchberger is expected to join the staff although it hasn’t been confirmed by either team.
Buchberger was the head of player personnel for the Oilers last season. In addition to that, he was an assistant coach for six years.
If you remember this was rumored as well back in May. We even had this little game set up to get to know both Buchberger and Luke Richardson.

Doug Weight is going with a ton of former NHL players. You would think he, as an inexperienced head coach would want someone with head coaching experience to bounce ideas off of but he’s going with the “younger” or less experienced route.
I know this wasn’t a very exciting story for the Daily’s today but I kind of got bored of the trade rumors and felt like changing it up. I’m sure we will be back to our regular rumor mill dissection tomorrow.
Isles Tweet Of The Day
